We have built viable linkages across the globe, says PolyNek Rector.
The centrality of linkages for institutional emancipation and development cannot be over-emphasized. Thus, it has been acclaimed that an effective collaboration is a key component of the 21st century educational schema. It is therefore, heart-warming, that the Federal Polytechnic Nekede has effectively keyed into this developmental initiative.
This was revealed last Friday by the Rector of the institution, Engr. Dr Michael Arimanwa FNSE, while fielding questions from an online television station, Nma Igbo TV, that paid him a courtesy visit in his office. The Poly chief also emphasized that the linkages built by the institution transcend the shores of Nigeria.
For the records, the smart Rector stated that the institution is in partnership with Zinox Computers, Lofty Farms (Lome, Togo) and Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). Others include Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), Innoson Motors, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Leventis Foundation, V.N. Karazin Kharkic National University and Lviv University of Business and Law, Ukraine, among others. The collaborations, according to the Rector, are geared towards strengthening institutional framework and promoting academic excellence in the foremost Polytechnic.
It is noteworthy that the foregoing collaborations are all active and viable. The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), for instance, has already built an ultramodern Bankers Hall in the Polytechnic which would be officially inaugurated next Thursday, May 5, 2022, in a ceremony that promises to be colourful. With regard to the partnership with Lofty Farms Lome, selected staff and students have already gone to the institute and in a few weeks a contingent of the Lofty Farms, Lome, led by the Chief Executive Officer is expected at the Polytechnic.
Meanwhile, the Rector has unveiled plans to integrate the Igbo Language and French in the curriculum of General Studies to afford students the opportunity to linguistically develop themselves. The plan, according to the Poly boss, would in part advance the Igbo Language and culture, at a time many Igbos experience difficulty interacting seamlessly in their mother-tongue.
