VALEDICTORY SPEECH FOR FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC STAFF SCHOOL, UMUDIBIA, NEKEDE OWERRI DELIVERED ON .. August 5th 2021.
ORDER OF PROTOCOL ......................
Ladies and gentlemen, a very pleasant day to you all. I am greatly honoured to be representing the graduating class of 2021. On behalf of the graduates, I want to thank you, all for joining us on this very memorable day.
We started this educational journey 5 years ago. Since then, we have watched one graduating class after the other make their exit; we silently prayed for our day to come and it is finally here. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being here.
It has been 6 years of serious academic work. Federal Polytechnic Staff School; chai, I doff my hat to thee! With the kind of drilling we receive here you will think we were being prepared for admission into ND I. There were days we left school mentally and physically exhausted because our mathematics teacher uncle Ugo insisted that all the maths formulae must stick in our brains. As if that was not enough, our English teacher, Anty Mamus; bombarded us with the pronunciation of mono-bi- and poly-syllabic words with appropriate stress and intonation. Then came our Fine Arts teacher, Anty Ngozi, with class project after project. I remember working on a Mosaic. That project frustrated my life, I even got injured in the process. Even with such•tasking projects, we were made to go home with lots of homework that must be submitted the next day. Believe me when I say - those days were tough. To make matters worse, some mothers like mine will insist that I do my house chores before or after my homework. It was really tiring! Don't forget that our surveillance camera - our mummy the Headmistress (Mrs.) Ugbolue was always positioned at a strategic corner to monitor our movement to ensure we did the right thing at the right time.
However, inasmuch as school was tough most of the time, we had our moments of relief and laughter. With clowns like Osamabhor and Isaac Emmanuel; you can never go wrong with hearty laughter. Those two as annoying as they were, did make us laugh and forget our worries for a bit. We will sure miss those moments. It is true that the level of class activities we had daily as well as the volume of take-home assignments had us feeling overwhelmed, it is important to note that just as gold passes through the fire; we have been refined; our confidence is boosted; our research ability is sharpened; we can sit for any examination with confidence and our tolerance for examination malpractice is at a zero alert because we have been groomed to sit for exams without fear of failure.
Ladies and gentlemen, it has been six years of an amazing journey. Six years of having to be with the best teachers ever. To all our teachers, may God Almighty bless you richly for impacting us positively. Our Headmistress; mummy Ugbolue, thank you for being a force for good to every one of us with your mother-hen attitude. Our dear parents; can we ever thank you enough? We can only try. Thank you, dear mommies and daddies, for your support through this phase of our academic journey. We pray God provides all that will be needed to support us through the next phase and that life be a lot easier on you in Jesus' name Amen.
To all grandaunts of 2021 set Hip Hip Hip -- Huraaay! It is our win today. It's time to go and show what stuff we are made of at the next academic level. It is time to go make the Management and staff of Federal Polytechnic Staff school proud. We came, we saw and we conquered.
Congratulations to us all and may we keep the flag of excellence flying ever high.
God bless us all.
Congratulations once again!
