FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC NEKEDE HOLDS SOLEMN ASSEMBLY
The Federal Polytechnic Nekede has held its Solemn Assembly for the month of June in an atmosphere of praise and worship. The event which took place at the main auditorium (1000-capacity hall) of the institution was well attended by staff and students of the frontline polytechnic.
At the monthly religious meeting, select members of staff took turns to lead in prayers for the country, state and the polytechnic. There were also fiery prayers for the return of elusive peace to the polity. The theme of the solemn assembly was “Winning by Righteousness” just as prayers were equally offered to God for grace to lead a righteous life.
In a sermon at the occasion, Ven Chinedu Olewezi, a staff of the institution decried the spate of corrupt practices in every facet of the national life which makes godly living difficult.
The man of God also railed at varied acts of depravity committed in our institutions that have grossly attenuated values and retarded growth. Speaking on the topic: Godliness with contentment is great gain (I Tim 6:6), Ven Olewezi defined godliness as doing the will of God just as he postulated that ultimate contentment lies in doing what is right before God.
In the end, the cleric charged the congregation of staff and students at the event to embrace righteousness which he identified as the only panacea for a contented life.
In a closing charge, the Rector of the institution who was represented at the event by the Deputy Rector (Academic), Dr C.C. Onyemenonu, thanked the speaker and all the prayer moderators for doing a great job. He enjoined the congregation to go beyond hearing the Word to observing its codes.
Members of Management at the assembly included the Deputy Rector (Administration) Dr. Uzoma Ibeaja, the Registrar, Mrs. Eucharia Anuna, while the Bursar and Librarian were respectively represented by Mrs Ijeoma Ukwu and Dr Charles Obichere.
