Christmas has been described as a festival of love and benevolence.
This was the highlight of the Christmas message of the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Engr Dr Michael Arimanwa FNSE, to the institution at the occasion of the end-of-year solemn assembly held yesterday at the main auditorium of the polytechnic.
Citing the birth of Jesus Christ as the highest manifestation of God’s love to mankind, the Rector who is also a senior clergyman, enjoined the entire polytechnic community to replicate the love of Christ in all they did.
In this light, he urged everyone to be generous just as Christ did not withhold anything in loving mankind. Thus, the gentleman cleric tasked staff and students to personify Christ in their actions and in-actions.
With regard to the coming year, 2022, the Rector challenged staff and students not to rue their failings in 2021 but to be of strong resolve not to allow a recurrence; just as he charged everyone to draw strength from Colosians 1:27 which serves as a hope-booster to all believers.
In spite of the ripple effects of COVID-19, the Rector acknowledged that the Polytechnic had remained focused in achieving targeted goals in infrastructure, staff welfare, digital technology, strengthening of institutional framework, research development and probity, among others. He expressed optimism that the year 2022 would offer more vistas for more outstanding developmental strides in the polytechnic.
Meanwhile, the Rector has announced promotions for a total of 345 members of the teaching and non-teaching staff as a way of reinforcing them for greater goals, stressing that all the people concerned would formally receive their letters of promotion before 25th December, 2021. He also confirmed that a total of 17 staff were fully converted either to the teaching or non-teaching cadre; while the appointment of 27 staff were confirmed.
It will be recalled that the polytechnic under the stewardship of Engr Dr M.C. Arimanwa has made steady and enormous progress in all spheres of the life of the institution.
Under him, for instance, the institution has won many national awards in educational excellence, thus making the institution a much-sought-after brand in the comity of Nigerian polytechnics.
It is also noteworthy that under Arimanwa’s rectorship, the Federal Polytechnic Nekede has not lost any accreditation. Instead, it has been designing curricular for new courses in the Nigerian polytechnic education system.
